2025 Making Smiles Project: Honoring Our Firefighters
On December 6, 2025, Hansamo students divided into two teams to visit Fire Station 30 and Fire Station 34 in San Ramon as part of their annual Making Smiles project. Led by the Hansamo Student Council, students collected handwritten thank-you cards and a variety of snacks to share with local first responders in appreciation of their service.
At both stations, the firefighters warmly welcomed the students and offered a brief tour of the facilities. They showed the equipment and fire engines, explained their daily responsibilities, and answered questions about their work. It was a meaningful opportunity to learn more about the dedication required in emergency response.
The Making Smiles project has become a meaningful year-end tradition for Hansamo. Each December, students choose local organizations and first responders to visit, hoping to brighten their day and express the community’s gratitude. In previous years, Hansamo students have visited police stations, fire stations, hospitals, and local veterans’ organizations.
After the tour, both teams delivered the cards and snacks they had prepared, which the firefighters received with gratitude. The experience once again reminded students of the importance of appreciation, kindness, and staying connected to the people who help keep their community safe.
