Celebrating Veterans Day: Hansamo Students Share Korean Culture

On the morning of November 1, 2025, Hansamo students and families participated in a Veterans Day celebration at the Veterans Memorial Building in Pleasanton. The performance was prepared to express gratitude and respect for the veterans’ service. While the veterans in attendance represented various service eras, the history of U.S. veterans who served in the Korean War remains a meaningful part of the shared connection between the United States and Korea, adding special significance to the occasion.

The program began at 8:30 AM with Samgomu (three-drum dance), showcasing the students’ precise coordination and rhythmic power. This was followed by a lively Nanta performance, full of spirited energy. A special addition to the program was a trumpet duet performed by two talented students, presenting a heartfelt rendition of the U.S. national anthem. The celebration concluded with a vibrant pungmul performance, highlighting the rich tradition of Korean drumming and dance with lively beats and colorful movements. Despite the early hour, the students performed with enthusiasm and focus, creating a warm and appreciative atmosphere for the approximately 23 veterans in attendance.

After the performance, Hansamo students and families distributed 40 snack bags they had prepared as a small token of thanks. The veterans expressed their gratitude for both the performances and the gesture, sending a message expressing how much they enjoyed the event and also extending an invitation to an upcoming event.

This celebration offered a meaningful opportunity for Hansamo to honor the dedication and service of veterans while sharing Korean culture through lively and engaging performances. It reinforced the values of gratitude, cultural exchange, and community connection that Hansamo continues to foster.
