2026 Cultural Heritage Festival at Indian Valley Elementary School
On February 1, Hansamo was invited to perform at the Cultural Heritage Festival held at Indian Valley Elementary School in Walnut Creek. This invitation was especially meaningful because it marked Hansamo’s first appearance at an elementary school cultural event, offering a unique opportunity to share Korean culture with a younger audience.
The festival took place on a Sunday in the school’s multipurpose room, where booths representing many different countries and cultures were set up. Parents and students proudly showcased their heritage through food, posters, traditional items, and cultural displays. Student performances, including singing and dancing, filled the space with energy and created a lively, welcoming atmosphere throughout the day.
Hansamo’s Pungmulnori performance was featured as the final act of the festival, drawing strong attention from both students and parents. The children, in particular, were captivated by the rhythm, swaying their shoulders along with the music, while parents watched with curiosity and appreciation. As the performers moved through the space with pungmul instruments and presented beona (spinning plates), the audience responded with visible excitement and fascination.
Although the venue was smaller and more intimate than large festival stages, the enthusiasm of the audience made the performance feel especially vibrant. Surrounded by colorful cultural booths, food, and the joyful energy of young students, Hansamo’s performance received warm and enthusiastic reactions.
The experience highlighted the value of reaching new and diverse audiences and reaffirmed the importance of continuing to expand opportunities to share Korean culture through a wide range of performances.
