Hansamo Celebrates Chuseok at the 8th Annual Bay Area Chuseok Festival

On September 26, 2026, the Presidio Main Parade Lawn in San Francisco came alive with music, food, and celebration as the 8th Annual Bay Area Chuseok Festival brought the community together to celebrate Chuseok, Korea’s traditional harvest holiday. Organized by Korean Center, Inc. (KCI), the free festival featured live performances, Korean food, cultural activities, local vendors, youth programs, and community organizations, all against the beautiful backdrop of the Presidio and the Golden Gate Bridge.

Hansamo once again joined the celebration, sharing Korean culture with festival visitors through three performances. The team opened with Samgomu (Three-Drum Dance), bringing graceful movements and colorful costumes to the stage. Two dancers captivated the audience with their energetic performance, confident movements, and bright smiles. Next, the Pungmulnori team energized the crowd with traditional Korean percussion and wind instruments, lively movements, Beona spinning, and Yeoldubal Sangmo (long-ribbon hat) spinning.

Hansamo concluded its performances with Nanta, filling the festival grounds with powerful drumming and synchronized rhythms. Together, the three performances showcased different forms of Korean performing arts, from the elegance of traditional dance to the lively spirit of pungmul and the powerful beats of Nanta.

Coming just one week after Hansamo’s Chuseok performance at the Ferry Building in San Francisco, the festival at the Presidio gave the team another exciting opportunity to take the stage in front of a large audience. For several members who joined Hansamo this year, these back-to-back performances were especially meaningful, giving them the chance to experience major community stages early in their time with the team. Alongside returning members, they shared the excitement of presenting Korean culture to the community and created lasting memories together.

Throughout the day, festival visitors explored Korean food, cultural activities, local vendors, and community booths while enjoying a full lineup of performances and programs. The open lawn of the Presidio provided a festive gathering place where people of all ages could experience Korean culture and celebrate Chuseok together.

Hansamo is grateful to have once again been part of the Bay Area Chuseok Festival. Through traditional dance, pungmul, and drumming, the team continues to share Korean culture with the wider Bay Area community while giving its young performers opportunities to learn, perform, and grow together.
