Hansamo Brings Korean Traditional Rhythms to Sunnyvale Autumn Food Festival
On October 31, 2026, Hansamo participated in the Sunnyvale Autumn Food Festival at Cityline Sunnyvale, bringing the vibrant sounds and colorful traditions of Korean performing arts to a lively community event. Invited back after performing at the festival in 2025, Hansamo once again shared Korea's cultural heritage with the local community. The two-day festival featured diverse food and craft vendors, including numerous Korean food offerings and live entertainments.
With the festival's opening day falling on Halloween, visitors dressed in creative costumes mingled with families enjoying the food and entertainment. Hansamo's colorful traditional Korean attire added another distinctive cultural element to the festive atmosphere, as families enjoyed the daytime celebration before heading off for their evening Halloween festivities.
Hansamo's performance began with a Samgomu (three-drum dance) solo by Hyun-A Joo, marking her debut as a solo performer. With three drums arranged around her, she combined graceful movements with powerful, rhythmic drumming, showcasing the elegance and dynamic energy of this traditional Korean art form.
The performance continued with Pungmulnori, filling the festival with the lively rhythms of Korean traditional percussion instruments. This performance also marked a special milestone for Jun-Pyo Park, who made his debut playing the Kkwaenggwari, the small brass gong that plays a central role in leading the rhythms of Pungmulnori. Together, the performers brought the spirited energy of Korea's traditional communal celebrations to the heart of Silicon Valley.
The combination of Korean traditional music, colorful costumes, diverse food, and Halloween festivities created a unique celebration of cultural diversity. For Hansamo, the event was not only an opportunity to share Korea's rich performing arts heritage but also a meaningful occasion to celebrate the growth and achievements of its young performers.
Through performances like the Sunnyvale Autumn Food Festival, Hansamo continues to connect communities across cultures, sharing the beauty and excitement of Korean traditions throughout the Bay Area.
